What makes you special and unique?
I am special because my God made me that way. Three things He gave me that make me unique are the freckle on my eye, a great big voice, and my mom.

What is the best advice you have ever received?
You can go as far as you want to in life if you never stop following your dreams. It is all up to you!

Name one thing you cannot live without.
I can not live without my cell phone. It keeps me connected with my friends, who are very important to me.

What's the most valuable lesson you've ever learned?
The most valuable lesson I have learned is that no one is going to "give" you anything in life. You have to be willing to work for what you want.

Who is your most valued role model and why?
My most valued role model is my mom. She has been there for me my entire life. She has sacrificed a lot in order for me to have not only everything I need, but almost everything I have ever wanted. She is not only my mom, she is also my best friend.

What was your most unexpected moment?
My most unexpected moment was when I was crowned Rankin County's Outstanding Teen.

What is your workout routine?
I go to the gym everyday of the week, except Wednesdays and Sundays. I play raquet ball for about an hour by myself, then I do cardio for 30 minutes. Then after that I swim about 6 laps in the pool.

My secret wish is to live a "Fairy Tale" life, complete with my own Prince Charming, and a few little mice who will dance and sing for me.

What was your most embarrassing moment?
My most embarrasing moment was when I was in the second grade, I was running around practicing my cheerleading movements, when I jumped up and did a toe-touch in front of the entire class. Much to my surprise, my pants ripped right down the seam. I had to walk around the rest of the day with my pants being ripped.

What is your biggest guilty pleasure?
I am addicted to Burger King's chicken fries. I could even eat them for breakfast!

During the summer, I play softball for the Florence Youth Association. I am an active member of Cleary Baptist Church, where I am in the youth ministry, as well as the choir. Who am I?
I am a bi-racial 14 year old Freshman at McLaurin Attendance Center. I was born in Hinds County, and moved to Rankin County when I was 2 years old. My mom is a single parent and means the world to me.

I am my own person. I am almost always smiling, no matter what is going on in my life. I try to be the same no matter where I am - what you see is what you get! I also try to treat other people with the same respect and consideration I would like to get from them. Some people have told me that I am almost 5 feet of pure attitude!

My favorite food to eat, besides chicken fingers from Burger King, is Japanese food. I love to watch the Habachi Chef prepare the food right there at my table, not to mention the food is great!

I enjoy hanging out with my friends, talking on the phone, going to the movies, and swimming. My friends are my favorite!

Tell us about your platform.
I believe it is important to be involved in the community and to help people by volunteering. Volunteers who have touched my life have inspired me to, in turn, volunteer in hopes that I can inspire someone else. There are so many needs and opportunities to help that it is hard to choose just one area.

One of my favorites is working with children in my community by volunteering with the Frontiers Afterschool Program where I have spent several afternoons a week reading at different elementary schools in Rankin County.

Recently I participated in the "Relay for Life" with the American Cancer Society. I sold the illuminarias which were used to line the track either in honor of cancer survivors or in memory of those who have lost their battle with cancer. I also walked around and encouraged people to donate blood.

I have been on several mission trips with my church. On one particular trip to Arlington, TX, I gave away my shoestrings. During a backyard Bible Club, I noticed a small boy trying to play, but he could not keep his shoes on because they were too big. His family could not afford a new pair of shoes for him. I took the shoestrings out of the shoes I was wearing and gave them to him, so that he could run and play with the rest of the kids.

I encourage everyone to volunteer in some way because there are so many needs to be met in many different areas. It does not matter how much you do, as long as you are volunteering. The time you are giving is always appreciated and might mean the difference between running and standing on the sideline.
