What makes you special and unique?
My voice. I truly feel that no one else in the world has one like mine, and the cool thing about it is that when I sing, my voice sounds totally different. So, in a sense, I'm somewhat versatile, well when it comes to my voice.

What is the best advice you have ever received?
Live life as if it was your last day on earth; love as if your heart had never been broken, and dance like no one is watching. Basically saying to live life to the fullest and have no regrets no matter what people may say or think. Be you!

Name one thing you cannot live without.
Of course, I can't live without God, he's everything. But when it comes to material things, I would have to be different and say deodorant because I'm very active and I'm sure my friends and family appreciate it, too!

What's the most valuable lesson you've ever learned?
That, in certain situations, I can't handle all of my problems and troubles. I should give it all to my father in heaven because he will fix them decently, in order, and faster than I can.

Who is your most valued role model and why?
My mother, not only is she a wonderful single parent, but also my best friend. She manages to work as a teacher, be a student working on her masters degree in special education, and be super mom all at the same time. I definitely get my strength from her. She has taught me to look to the hills which my help cometh from. So, like her, I will continue to keep my head held high because I have seen the works of God through her.

What was your most unexpected moment?
Winning the Teen Mississippi Coast pageant. I was totally shocked and excited. Little did I know that I would win the first major pageant that I entered.

What is your workout routine?
When it's up to me, a few crunches and sit-ups maybe every other day, dancing three times a week, and maybe run every now and then. When it's up to my director and my personal trainer/boyfriend, I basically have a football workout that's a killer, literally.

What has been your biggest accomplishment to date?
I've just received Who's Who Among High School Students Most Dependable and Best All Around. It's really an honor when your peers acknowledge you, especially when you're not even a senior yet.

What is the best compliment you have ever received?
That I'm beautiful not just because of looks but because of my personality and heart. And by being beautiful on the inside, grace and elegance show on the outside no matter how I look.

What is your secret wish?
It's really not a secret and that's to win the title of Mississippi's Outstanding Teen and represent my state to the best of my abilities at America's Outstanding Teen.

What was your most embarrassing moment?
I really don't have one. I have sort of a goofy personality that my friends adore and it's almost impossible for me to be embarrassed. But I have had to bite my tongue a few times for saying the wrong thing.

What is your biggest guilty pleasure?
Stuffed snowballs (creamy snowballs with ice cream in the middle) from a stand called Granny G's. That has definetly been the hardest thnks to slack up on.

What is your favorite movie and why?
Beauty and the Beast, not only because I love Disney movies but it's one of the most romantic and greatest musicals of all times in my opinion teaching that beauty does come from within. And like Belle, I too live in a small town and dream of adventure.

What do you like to do for fun... relaxation... recreation?
Dance, dance, dance! I can just let all of my frustrations and stress go and just take it all out on the floor, especially if I'm tapping!

What would be your dream vacation or destination?
A trip to Africa,, the beautiful part of course. Just see a part of my heritage and culture, and of course, the beautiful animals.

What do you like best about the state of Mississippi?
It's hospitality, and southern comfort. I had the opportunity to travel to New York City and it was so weird bumping into people and not hearing them say sorry or excuse me and the strange look that everyone gives you when you reply yes sir or yes ma’am.

Where do you see yourself in ten years?
Hopefully, living in New York City performing on Broadway after receiving my masters in musical theatre with minors in dance and business communications from NYU, married to my Prince Charming, and loving every minute of life.

What extracurricular activities do you participate in?
Dance team and Sarah's School of Dance Competition team, Forensics/Speech and Debate Team, FBLA, Student Council, Class President, Beta Club, FCS-Fellowship of Christian Students, Juniorettes, and P.O.S. Community Theatre.

Who am I?
I am Alex (for short), the daughter of Edna C. Parker and Ivan Parker. My mom is my best friend by far and the most terrific single parent in the world. I love life and thank God and my mother for giving it to me.

In my opinion, every day should be better than the last and the outcome of each day is up to all of us. I am very active in school and church activities.

Sometimes it can be stressful but with God anything is possible. If you meet me, after five minutes I probably will have you dying from laughing so hard, but that's me! I love my friends and my family. I know they'll be there for me no matter what. Oh, and I adore Chinese food and stuffed snowballs.

Tell us about your platform.
I chose for my platform, "The Fight Against AIDS: Abstinence is the Answer" because it is so common in teens and young adults among the African-American culture. I feel that today's society sugar coats the fact that AIDS is a dying epidemic. Statistics have shown that protection is not the answer to stop AIDS; ABSTINENCE IS THE ANSWER TO END THIS VIRUS!

We have somehow as a society and nation forgotten the importance of waiting until marriage and the media tells us that pre-marital sex is okay; but it's NOT! Young African-American women are becoming infected with AIDS and other sexually transmitted diseases by African-American men, who become sexually active at an early age. The madness of "sugar coating" has to STOP!

I hope to inform young teens, starting at age 12, of the consequences and repercussions from pre-marital sex. I want to show them that the AIDS virus is not just something that you see on television, it's real and people are dying. If I just get through to one person, one teen, that is one life that helped save.
