What makes you special and unique?
I've been given a second chance at life because I was almost killed in a car accident on July 29th 2005. So now I live every moment to the fullest because you never know when it could be your last.

Name one thing you cannot live without.
My Camera and my planner! I love taking pictures so that I can look back and remember all the fun times. I am absolutely lost without my planner.

What's the most valuable lesson you've ever learned?
Listen to your Mom. She's experienced and won't let you get hurt.

Who is your most valued role model and why?
My sister, because she has four children and still finds the time to have fun, paint her nails, look cute, have faith, and be the best sister EVER! I love her!

What was your most unexpected moment?
My car wreck definitely qualifies for this one. Never in a million years did I expect to wake up from a coma when I was just on my way home from my boyfriend's house.

What is your workout routine?
Cheerleading practice everyday from 3:30 to 5:00. Other than that I take an extra tumbling class on Thursdays from 6:30 to 9:00.

What has been your biggest accomplishment to date?
In a matter of a month after my wreck I went to my national pageant and made Top 10. It was so thrilling!

What is the best compliment you have ever received?
After my accident, while I had a black eye and a puffy face I was told I was beautiful. This meant the world to me because I had seen the way I looked, and the way little kids were scared when they saw me at Wal-Mart.

What is your secret wish?
I would LOVE to just jump on a spaceship and go to space, so I could float! The feeling of being weightless is amazing to me.

What was your most embarrassing moment?
During a pep rally, when my cheerleading squad was doing a dance we were changing formations and a girl tripped me. I fell flat to the floor in front of the ENTIRE middle school and high school! For the rest of the day people kept asking me, "How was your trip?"

What is your biggest guilty pleasure?
Shoe shopping! They can make anything bad to better in a matter of minutes.

What is your favorite movie and why?
"A League of Their Own." I have watched this movie ever since I was very young. I like it because this group of women fought for what they wanted. They didn't let people push them around, and they played their game of softball. They proved that a woman can do exactly what a man can do.

For Recreation: Cheer, Play Softball, Tumble, Attempt to play tennis, or Play some football

What would be your dream vacation or destination?
I would love to visit Turks & Caicos because the water is so clear, and everywhere you look seems just like a postcard.

What do you like best about the state of Mississippi?
I love our hospitality. Just walking down the street makes me happy. Even if you don't know someone they'll just smile when you walk by. In other states, people aren't so friendly.

Where do you see yourself in ten years?
In ten years I plan to either be finishing pharmacy school at the University of Mississippi or be finished with pharmacy school, beginning my own pharmacy, so that I will be able to achieve my dream of helping people.

Cheerleading-Captain, Fast-Pitch Softball, and being a Diamond Girl Captain for the Varsity Baseball Team

Who am I?
Ashley Nowell is your all around versatile girl... I love meeting new people. If there is a line at the grocery store or just a store period, you can definitely expect me to have met at least two or more people by the time I leave. You never know when you could find a relative somewhere down the line. I love that!

Another thing, to go along with everything else you've learned about me, is that I am involved in all advanced classes, and I am the only cheerleader in advanced classes along with being in the Beta Club. To be in this club you must have an average of at least 95. This is really exciting. Not your average cheerleader, eh?

Finally, I love spending time with my family. After all, they are the ones that will be there for you in the end. I also consider my boyfriend, Colby Wakefield, to be a member of my family. We've been dating now for a little over two years. We do alot with my sister's family. Since she has four kids, there is never a dull moment. They're so full of life and they love the park!

In conclusion, this is who Ashley Suzanne Nowell is really and truly. I stay busy, but I'm a very organized person, which makes things so much easier to handle. I'm friendly, smart, fun, and a loving person all around.

Tell us about your platform.
My playform is Seatbelt Safety Awareness. This is a very passionate subject to me because I would not be here if it weren't for my seatbelt. If you're in a car wreck and you aren't wearing a seatbelt, there's about a 1 in 10 chance that you will survive.

This is so dear to me because on July 29th, 2005 I was leaving my boyfriends house going home to my friends house because my Mom was in South Carolina. I remember telling him good-bye and telling him I would call when I got to her house which was about 5 minutes away. Well, I never called so he called me and a police officer answered the phone and told him what had happened. A boy, who was my same age, was speeding and did not see the stop sign. Well he was driving a suburban and I was driving a tiny car. He was going just fast enough to the point he picked my vehicle up and moved it over. My face broke the window, and my leg was trapped in the door.

The ambulance and police officers finally arrived and used the jaws of life to get me out of the car. I've been told I was screaming until no end. I don't remember any of this. So Mom gets home and they slowly wake me up from my coma. They explained they had to induce me because I was fighting the morpheine so much that I eventually stopped breathing, and they had to put me on life support. This is such a scary thought.

I can only imagine what would have happened had I not been wearing my seatbelt. Doctors, along with everyone else, say that I wouldn't be alive. Luckily, I came out of it with 60 stitches in the left side of my face from my temple to under my chin, a bruised kidney and thalamus (center part of your brain), a black eye, and a broken ankle in which they put a 4 inch titanium plate with 6 screws.

It's now been almost 2 years since my wreck and I am so thankful every single day that I've been given another chance. It showed me just how much I have not done that I want to accomplish. It really makes you think twice about arguing with someone and leaving the conversation on the wrong terms. This is why my platform is so special to me.
