Always do your best at whatever you’re trying to do- it doesn’t matter if you succeed or fail; God IS going to put you where He wants you. Ultimately, God is in control. Back to Top Name one thing you cannot live without. My quiet time with God. Back to Top What's the most valuable lesson you've ever learned? Honoring your parents isn’t just about making them happy so you don’t have to hear them fuss, that’s just selfish. You are obedient to them to honor your Heavenly Father. That’s why God made it a commandment. Also, I’ve learned to give God my day planner!! If I am so busy selfishly making my own plans for my future, I’m wasting my time not doing what He has commanded me to do since day 1, which is to be fully submissive to Him. Back to Top Who is your most valued role model and why? My best friend, Hannah Langley. She is such an encouragement to me and her sisterly love goes beyond words. She was the person that God used to show me what it’s like to be in His presence. OH HOW AMAZING! Back to Top What was your most unexpected moment? My most unexpected moment would have to be my first (and only) wreck. Last summer in July I was coming home from a friend’s house and I got hit by an 18- wheeler. I was merging into the right lane to get on the interstate and I got sideswiped on the driver’s side of my Jeep. The first thing I saw was bright lights in all of my mirrors, then I heard a loud popping noise behind me which was the tire of the 18- wheeler coming up the side of my jeep popping out my back-right taillight. The truck kept riding up the side of my jeep, crushing everything inward. Then, my driver’s side window shattered all over me. All of a sudden, my Jeep gets slung out from under the truck and spins around in a clockwise motion, with debris flying everywhere- in my face, my mouth, out the windows- just everywhere but I never flipped! Then, I get hit again, this time the tire cuts across my whole side door crushing in the door on my legs and the dashboard into my chest. All I could think about was, “JESUS YOU’RE HERE! JESUS, JESUS, JESUS!!!” I immediately felt the Jeep start to slow down and all the tires landed on the ground. Then, there was just this peace that fell over my Jeep and it slowly pulled itself over to the shoulder of the road and without me touching it, it stopped itself. I pulled myself out of the Jeep, ran around to the other side to and found my cell phone, and called my parents. The whole “Emergency Gang” (paramedics, Highway Patrol, Fire trucks, etc.) had arrived and I was sitting on the back of someone’s truck bed and I was just a grinning from ear to ear because of the AWESOME mercy God had just shown me. Haha, one of the paramedics even asked my mom if I was always this happy and she, very quickly, responded with a loud and proud, “OH YOU JUST HAVE NO IDEA!”
Later on after we all cooled down, somewhere in all the mix, my eyes fell on this tall man with a red shirt and blue jeans and he was kind of looking around with this blank look on his face. I knew who it was. I hopped off the truck bed and walked over to him and there was this brief moment of pause. We hugged each other and just cried. He thought he had killed me. I was so excited because I wanted him to know how divine God’s mercy was! Later, we exchanged phone numbers and finally went home and I, of course, slept with my parents (they wouldn’t let me out of their sight!). Oh how great sleeping was that night. Hallelujah! God kept me alive for a reason! He has a plan!
What is your workout routine? What has been your biggest accomplishment to date? What is the best compliment you have ever received? What is your secret wish? What was your most embarrassing moment?
...you don't want to know the details...
What is your biggest guilty pleasure? What is your favorite movie and why? What do you like to do for fun... relaxation... recreation? What would be your dream vacation or destination? What do you like best about the state of Mississippi? Where do you see yourself in ten years? What extracurricular activities do you participate in? Who am I? I have been blessed with a family and friends that keep me on my toes all the time! I have the most dysfunctional-dynamic family! Hahaha.. And my friends...well they're family, too! Really, my family and friends are the most spiritually encouraging people anyone can be around. I love spending time with them and learning so much from each person. No two of my friends are the same and by being so close to so many different kinds people, it's hard not have so many different personalities rub off on you! Therefore, I have grown to be VERY open minded about things. I don't know where I would be without them always calling me to go play mud football or to have a bonfire or just to pray together for a little while. They are so selfless and such servants for God and because He placed each and every one of them in my life, I learn so much and I'm growing so much in Him every day, becoming the young woman of God that He wants me to be! Hallelujah!
Entering this pageant isn't just for someone to tell me I'm pretty and beautiful, but this is a really big way to get people's attention and show them who God is! Yes I love to get dolled up, yes I love to wear pretty dresses, but NONE of that compares to how badly I want to make a difference in the lives of the girls I'm going to be with for this pageant. I've met every single one of them and I am ecstatic about seeing them, spending more time with them, and learning from them just as I do from all the rest of my friends! To all my pageant sisters: I can't wait to get to know y'all further! I pray blessings and blessings and more blessings over all of y'all! I would die if I had to judge this pageant! All of you have something so special to bring to this state as Miss Mississippi's Outstanding Teen. Good luck and I love y'all so much! Oh, and when are we all going shopping together? I declare a shopping day!
Tell us about your platform. Breast cancer is the leading cause of deaths of women from age 15-54. Even though breast cancer can't be prevented, early detection and prompt treatment can significantly improve a woman's chances of surviving breast cancer. And when women at a younger age learn about these risks and the benefits of early detection, they are more likely to follow the recommendations regarding exams and such. Young women need to understand their risk factors and know them further so they can start treatment early and avoid the major challenges of breast cancer.
The reason I am so passionate about this issue is because I almost lost my grandmother to breast cancer. My grandmother is one of the most influential women in my life and without her I wouldn't be half the girl I am today. God has taught me so much through her and breast cancer almost took her away from me. If there is a way that I can make a difference in other women's lives about that very thing, I will do whatever it takes because I've had a small taste of what it feels like to lose someone very dear to me to breast cancer. Other young girls may not be as blessed as I am to keep their grandmothers; therefore, I have taken the responsibility to do all that I can to get the word out there.
