What makes you special and unique?
I am a military brat and have lived all over the southeastern United States. Seeing America on the fast track has exposed me to a multiplicity of viewpoints and geographical differences.

What is the best advice you have ever received?
Without a doubt the best advice I've been given is "Looking good hurts!" I remember wearing six inch heels to a party to impress the crowd with my style. I woke up the next day with blisters on my feet, but I did get compliments all night.

Name one thing you cannot live without.
Honey buns would be the staple of my diet. One a day keeps the "blahs" away!

What's the most valuable lesson you've ever learned?
Growing up as an introvert, I opted for the back row and no opinion status. That all changed when I found out my opinions mattered. Now I go for front row and the lead roles.

Who is your most valued role model and why?
Legendary screen star Rubby Dee is the ultimate "Renaissance Man". This actress used her art to speak up for contemporary issues. I admire her as a poet, as an author, and as an activist.

What was your most unexpected moment?
In the middle of a school year, I was told to pack everything; that we were moving to Mississippi! What a great suprise since much of my family was already in the Magnolia State.

What is your workout routine?
Three days a week I run for three miles, followed by ab work and a honey bun!

What has been your biggest accomplishment to date?
At the annual diocesan tournament, I was named Original Oratory Champion and will represent south Mississippi at the grand national debate tournament in Houston, Texas.

What is the best compliment you have ever received?
Following my debut as the lead role in our school's production of "Seusical, The Musical", I was told that I had a really unique voice. That's the kind of compliment that a novice actor longs to hear!

What is your secret wish?
In my heart of hearts, I'd love to become a professional movie critic. Silver screen classics are my passion. Thumbs up!

What was your most embarrassing moment?
As a varsity soccer player, I am supposed to set an example for younger players. Imagine their shock as I strolled to the field for a district game and in an attempt to pull off my sweatpants, pulled everything. Oops.

What is your biggest guilty pleasure?
Chilli Cheese Coneys from Sonic are really good. I can't believe I can eat the whole thing!

What is your favorite movie and why?
"Pay It Foward" has such a possitive message that it has always been a favorite of mine. I wish more people in the world would care and do more for others.

What do you like to do for fun... relaxation... recreation?
A good work out on the tennis court is hard to beat for personal therapy and health. When I am stressed, I head to center court.

What would be your dream vacation or destination?
All my life I have dreamed of going to the Galapagos Islands. Charles Darwin penned his theory of evolution there; Kicker Rock has provieded inspriration for many tourists, wildlife refuges and parks make this Ecuadorian coast hideway my dream spot.

What do you like best about the state of Mississippi?
The Hospitality State is diverse. We lead the nation percentage of African Americans who hold elective office. Our hispanic population is rising and the rich heritage of Native Americans is a strong part of our history.

Where do you see yourself in ten years?
In a decade, I will be a broadcast journalist for ESPN. As a host of my own sports talk show I would love to anchor the broadcast of Wimbledon.

What extracurricular activities do you participate in?
Varsity debater, public speaking champion, select soccer standout, triple threat in theatre (singer-dancer-actress); showchoir soloist, and community activist are a few of my positives. I believe that activities are the other side of education.

Who am I?
More than anything I am a greenpeace advocate. I have asked my parents to not buy any more gifts for me until they can afford a hybrid car. I am totally commited to conserving the world's energy and resources for the next generation.

I am encouraged by Al Gore's Oscar winning movie, "An Incoveient Truth." Although I am no Sheryl Crow (only one square of toilet paper just isn't enough!), I do believe that it is important and easy to be green.

Tell us about your platform.
The arts are being dismantled across the state and it is important to try to salvage what little arts programs are left and try to implement arts programs into schools that don't have them. An instructor of Sophomore English once commented that if stardized test are how districts will be evaluated, then they ought to eliminate every class and activity that is no measured by No Child Left Behind. This action, would destroy arts programs in many schools.

In this high stakes, multiple-choice test world in which we unfortunately live, the well-rounded mind upon which Western Civilization was built, is being lost. Indeed, the concept of The Renaissance Man is giving way to high stakes testing, which is measuring and evaluaion only certain core subjects- to the exclusion of all others. Skills such as creative thinking and problem solving ability are being summarily dismissed as unimportant or at the very least, held as something less than noble. When in essence creative thinking and problem solving help to improve test scores, which is just one reason arts education should stay around for many generations to come.
