What makes you special and unique?
I love life. My mom says from the time I was born I was always laughing and rarely cried. Being around people made me happy and to this day I value my family and friends more than anything.

What is the best advice you have ever received?
My dad told me "If you do what you love for a career you will never have to work a day in your life." My dad is an attorney and I can tell he loves his job. Since I love to cook and eat, I plan on being a chef.

Name one thing you cannot live without.
Ice cream! Ha Ha! No, really my mom.

What's the most valuable lesson you've ever learned?
Even the worst things that happen, happen for a reason and good things can come from them. Two years ago my family lost our house in Katrina and three days later my mom was badly injured in a car wreck. While at first glance this may seem horrible, many good things have happened and we have met many wonderful people as a result.

Who is your most valued role model and why?
My mom, she is so strong and even if she wasn't my mom she would still be my role model.

What was your most unexpected moment?
When my classmates elected me as Freshman Homecoming Maid. Out of the whole class only two freshman girls were chosen. I was both surprised and honored to be chosen.

What is your workout routine?
Working out is fun for me. I am committed to a healthy lifestyle. I swim a mile at least four times a week, and though swimming is my favorite, I also enjoy running on my days off from swimming. There is nothing like being outside in fresh air. Often I ride my bike or take a walk with my dog just for fun.

What has been your biggest accomplishment to date?
My biggest accomplishment to date is my GPA. I have always made straight A's. My Freshman GPA is a 4.4 on a weighed 4 point scale. I am very proud of this accomplishment.

What is the best compliment you have ever received?
When my voice teacher told me she thought I had all the parts to be successful in music: The voice, the mind, most importantly the heart. Miss Cherri, my voice teacher, is a wonderful instructor and has a beautiful voice. For her to tell me this was an awesome compliment.

What is your secret wish?
To star on Broadway of course! I love to sing, dance and who doesn't like applause? I have been lucky enough to see several plays on Broadway and the performers are so talented. To be chosen to perform on Broadway would be the ultimate experience.

What was your most embarrassing moment?
One afternoon after school on campus a very nice lady with a strong English accent asked me where the "weight room" was. I thought she said "wait room" which I assumed meant the restroom. I told her there were several close by but I would show her the nearest one. When I opened the door to the lady's room for her she looked at me funny and said "I don't believe I will find the football players in here." At that moment I realized she was looking for the weight room not the restroom.

What is your biggest guilty pleasure?

What is your favorite movie and why?
My favorite movies is "Elf", because you cannot watch it without laughing. It also reminds me of Christmas which is my favorite season of the year.

What do you like to do for fun... relaxation... recreation?
Go to the movies with friends. There is just nothing like watching a movie on the "Big Screen" and eating popcorn while sharing time with good friends. I also like to read. You can go anywhere with a good book.

What would be your dream vacation or destination?
Hawaii without a question. It is just beautiful and warm! With my love of the outdoors and the water it is as close to Heaven on Earth as it gets.

What do you like best about the state of Mississippi?
We have so many things to be proud of in Mississippi. I don't think most people realize the amount of talent that has come from our state. When you think about all the famous people like Eudora Welty, John Grisham, Elvis Presley, James Earl Jones and Faith Hill to name a few. Then we can't forget all the great stuff that came from Mississippi: Barq's Rootbeer, cotton, catfish, the teddy bear, Pine Sol and the first heart transplant. But really what I like best is our hospitality. You can't find it anywhere like in Mississippi.

Where do you see yourself in ten years?
In ten years I will have graduated from college and be in training to become a chef. Hopefully the opening of my very own restaurant will be just over the horizon.

What extracurricular activities do you participate in?
I have been a cheerleader since fourth grade. For the last two years I have been elected to serve on my school's Student Government Association. Music is a big part of my life through my involvement in our Chorale Singers, Theatrics Club and school talent show. Church activities including Youth Group and Vacation Bible School are also a priorty. I have always been on a sports team. I have played basketball and soccer, ran track and this year I plan to be on the swim team.

Who am I?
Life is full of opportunities. In order to make the most of those opportunities I believe we must be prepared. That is my goal in life, to be prepared for the opportunities God sends my way. My dreams are big. I dream of starring on Broadway so I take advantage of every chance to perform and strengthen my singing skills. If I could be a chef and own my own restuarant I would be so happy, so I take advantage of the opportunity to cook with my mom and try all kinds of food. My favorite just happens to be spaghetti and anything with sugar.

My studies are important to me as is my health because I know these play a big part in being ready to make my dreams come true. I believe in working hard but I also believe in enjoying life. That is why I also take the opportunity to laugh and be with my friends. But most of all I take the opportunity to spend some time everyday with my family because they are my biggest encouragement. Finally, I am grateful for the opportunity to be in the Miss Outstanding Teen Pageant because I know it will be a great experience.

Tell us about your platform.
My platform may be unique but I chose it because I have personally experienced how it can affect a life. My platform deals with automobile safety standards. Last year my mom, sister and I were in a very bad car accident. My mom was paralyzed when the roof of the car we were driving crushed. Since then I have learned that with just a few changes in the design of the car and for very little money this could have been prevented.

It is my desire to make sure automobiles are made more safe. Technology is increasing all the time which would improve automobile design to help prevent injuries and deaths. My goal is to see that these improvements are made to automobiles quickly and efficently. One way is through legislation and I have communicated with my elected officials about this cause. The second is public awareness that some automobiles are more safe and how to find and understand this information.
