Name one thing you cannot live without.
My family. They always motivate me and support me. They make me want to be the best I can be. I want to make them proud with everything I do. They are always there for me - no matter what.

What's the most valuable lesson you've ever learned?
To always "touch base" with your Mom when you are supposed to - no matter what!

Who is your most valued role model and why?
My Mom. She is a wonderful role model. My Dad works out of the country, so half the time she is like a single Mom. I don't now how she does everything! She works full-time, takes care of our family, is always there to support everything my brother and I do, and she volunteers her time in so many ways in our community. She even took in a friend of mine after Hurricane Katrina and has helped several teenagers on the coast after Katrina in many ways. She supports everything I do (even my shoe addiction - I think I got it from her!) She is also my best friend.

What was your most unexpected moment?
For my 13th birthday, I took some friends with me to a Martina McBride concert (I love Martina!). We were sitting on the front row and she called us up on stage to sing a song with her. If that wasn't incredible enough, she then had us sit at her feet while she sang "In My Daughters Eyes" to us! Our Mom's were crying their eyes out! It was an incredible, unexpected moment!

What is your workout routine?
I dance a lot, go to the gym a little, and right now it is practicing the production numbers and jump roping getting ready for the pageant.

What has been your biggest accomplishment to date?
Being a Mentor and hopefully I have made a difference in a girls life through my platform - female bullying.

What is the best compliment you have ever received?
I have had several young girls tell me that they want to be like me - what a great compliment! I have had adults tell me I am as pretty on the inside, as I am on the outside - that's a great compliment too!

What is your secret wish?
Now that I know it can be done - to sing a duet with Elvis!

Celine Dion did it on American Idol.

What was your most embarrassing moment?
At the Miss Dixie Outstanding Teen Pageant, during the evening wear portion we were supposed to first go out on stage and get a rose from our little princess who was standing on the other side of the stage. Well, my princess was tiny! I didn't even see her, and I just started modeling. The MC started talking about my platform, "female bullying" and everyone started laughing and I didn't know why. When I turned, I saw my little princess with the most disappointed look on her face (like I was a bully because I did not get the rose)! I immediatley went to get my rose and gave her a big hug!

What is your biggest guilty pleasure?
Fried oreos and lots and lots of shoes!

What is your favorite movie and why?
I can't pick just one!

Father of the Bride - because it is so sweet and heart-warming.

The Notebook - because it is so romantic and touches all of your emotions. It is a "True Love" story.

Cars - because it has a wonderful message and it is so cute and creative how the cars matched their personalities and they used the cars instead of people to deliver the message. I just loved it! Especially "Tow" Mater!

What would be your dream vacation or destination?
Africa. I think it would be an incredible adventure. My Dad worked there and he loved the country and the people. That makes me want to experience it too!

What do you like best about the state of Mississippi?
Everything! The people, the food, the culture, our hospitality and our accents (I love our Southern accents). I also love how we are so community minded and pull together in times of need, like we did after Katrina.

Who am I?
I’m Kelsey Ann Jackson. I’m many different moods and I love many different things, but I’m always having fun! Most of the time I live by the “Girls Just Want To Have Fun” philosophy. One day I’m a Tom Boy, fishing and 4-wheeling, and the next day, I’m dressed up and modeling! I’m an entertainer – I love to sing! I’m friendly, funny, creative, adventurous, spontaneous and I love to live life to the fullest each and every day! I care deeply for my family and friends and I strive to always have good Christian character.

I love to travel and go to concerts and musicals with my Mom and friends. We have traveled to see everybody from Ciara and Chris Brown in Atlanta, Hair Spray in New York, Brad Paisley and Carrie Underwood in Jackson, to Faith Hill and Tim McGraw in Houston. We even got to see Cher in her farewell tour and we are going to Memphis to see Keith Urban in June! I love to fish with my Dad. A few years ago, I caught a 5 lb. bass (with his help) on Father’s Day! I have one older Brother, Garrett, who is a sophomore at Ole Miss. I am very proud of him – he is a great big brother. I love animals and have four dogs and a cat (named Reba after Reba McIntyre because she has a red head). “My Dog” is my black toy poodle – Jean-Luc (named after Jean-Luc Piccard on Star Trek) – he loves to dress up in dog clothes.

True confession – I have loved Elvis since I was 5 years old! I love a lot of old music and old, fast cars. My dream car is a 1968 Chevelle convertible! My favorite foods are my Mamaw’s potato salad, crab sushi and pasta. I also love eating at Japanese Hibachi Grills. I hate math and spiders! I have a particular fondness for new shoes! I really hope to make a difference with my life in some way – some day!

Tell us about your platform.
My platform is Female Bullying – Education and Prevention. I hope you have never been a victim of bullying, but, unfortunately, many of you probably have. I have, and I know how devastating it can be, but I also know (from experience) things that can be done to help. I have developed a program I am taking into schools - K-12th grade- and presenting to “girl groups”. My program, called “Mean Girls Aren’t Cool”, focuses on increasing awareness of bullying among girls and educating about how, when and why it occurs; bullying techniques and tactics; empowering the victims; and getting school officials and parents involved to help prevent the problem. Female bullying is really increasing with the ability to “Cyberbully”. Our technology – the internet, text messaging and cell phones, make it much easier to bully. Now, gossip and meanness toward victims can be done in groups and with lightening speed! If through my platform, I can prevent even one girl from going through what I did, I will be happy! Here are a few Fast Facts about Female Bullying:

  • Surveys show that as many as one-half of all children are bullied at some time during their school years, and at least 10% are bullied on a regular basis.

  • Many female bullies are popular, pretty, seemingly perfect students who are often admired by teachers and others.

  • Bully girls target friends as well as outsiders and tend to target girls they envy in some way, or are different than them.

  • A girl is a bully if she spreads rumors or gossip; excludes others from her “group” of friends; repeatedly teases or makes fun of someone; cyberbullies; or gives intimidating looks or threats.

  • Girls are often unaware that their behaviors are bullying.
  • Let’s ALL help to stop female bullying! We CAN make a difference!
