Deep South - Lauren Rosado Talent and Casual Wear competitions followed and the auditors had the daunting task of totaling the scores. In the meantime, the outgoing Miss Mississippi's Outstanding Teen, Natalie Wood, delivered a very emotional thank you speech. She began to cry as she thanked her parents and the rest of her family for their love and support throughout her reign. She also thanked the people of Mississippi for making her feel right at home wherever she went. She acknowledged those people who had been especially helpful to her and thanked everyone in attendance for their kindness and support. The time came to announce the top five contestants. The on-stage question came next and then... The final scores were tallied and we now have a brand new Miss Mississippi's Outstanding Teen for 2006.
Congratulations are also in order for every single young lady who participated in the pageant. This week has been a rollercoaster of emotion and physicality. Keeping up with the hectic pace of the pageant rehearsals, interviews, costume changes, choreography and the such can stress even the most seasoned professionals. Each of the ladies in this pageant were calm, cool and collected under the pressure of the pageant! There were forty young ladies who each have a reason to go home with their heads held high. We would like to extend a special thanks to each of them for letting us be a part of their little world!
Friday, June 30, 2006, 23:52 Firday night's competition was truly, pardon the pun, Outstanding! The competition in the talent category was tremendous as was the active wear competition. We have neglected to mention the evening wear and casual wear competitions and, for that matter, the on-stage questions. Tomorrow night's festivities promise to be energetic, entertaining and thrilling. Join us, if you can, at the Vicksburg Convention Center. Before we get around to congratulating the winners of this evening's competitions, we want to take a moment to recognize our first, and reigning, Miss Mississippi's Outstanding Teen.
![]() Natalie Wood has molded a rather large pair of shoes to fill for her successor. She has become an example of success for everyone! Just twenty-four hours before she relinquishes her crown and becomes just a normal high-schooler once again, she recieved a very pleasant surprise.
![]() Donna Bozarth, the chairman of the board of directors of the Miss America's Outstanding Teen Pageant, came out just before the winners of the preliminaries were announced and presented Natalie with a plaque recognizing her achievement in excellence in answering the challenge presented to all the contestants of the Miss Americas's Outstanding Teen Pageant. The challenge was simple - return home and develop and implement a mentoring program in her hometown. Natalie did just that, with some astounding results! In addition to the plaque, Natalie was invited to appear in a video for a national organization to promote the mentoring program she helped to implement. But that wasn't all! Ms. Bozarth also informed Natalie that whe would be recieving an additional $5,000 in scholarship monies for her efforts! We would like to take this time to thank 2005's Miss Mississippi's Outstanding Teen, Natalie Wood for all that she has done for the organization, her community and the great state of Mississippi!
