I love to spend time with my boyfriend, friends and family because they are a tremendous part of my life. I also love working with my two social clubs on events. Listening to music is another favorite. Another one of my favorite things to do is watch movies, because they provide for a vacation from reality. Back to Top What makes you special and unique? The thing that makes me special and unique is that I have never been afraid to stick to my opinions. However, I have never been afraid to listen to other's opinions and consider them as well. I would have to say that I am open-minded and willing to give everyone's thoughts and opinions a fair chance. Back to Top What is the best advice you have ever received? The best advice that I have ever received was from my dad. Whenever I have felt helpless or completely inadequate, he has always told me that I should do my best and that is all that can be asked of me. He would always tell me that the Lord would help me to do my best, and if my best is what I gave, then whatever I did would be fine. Back to Top Name one thing you cannot live without. Immediately my thoughts go to my loved ones, but I do not consider them things, so I would have to say I could not live without a vehicle. I know this sounds materialistic, but its purpose is to get me to and from school because I commute to my campus. If I didn't have it, then there would be no way for me to get to class to further my education. Back to Top What's the most valuable lesson you've ever learned? The most valuable lesson that I have ever learned was taught to me by my mother at a very young age. She once told my brother and me to never judge people on outward appearances because you never knew what a person may be going through in their personal life. This bit of information has always stuck with me and helped me become a less judgmental person. Back to Top Who is your most valued role model and why? My most valued role model would have to be Condoleezza Rice. The reason why I look up to her is because she is such a strong, successful woman and she reached her status with intellect and dignity. Back to Top What was your most unexpected moment? My most unexpected moment was me winning my title as Miss W. It was a wonderful moment when my name was called and I was completely overjoyed and in a state of shock. Back to Top What is your workout routine? My favorite workout style is either Pilates or yoga. They are both low impact, but show maximum result and can be very calming and stress relieving. I try to get either of these routines in a few times a week when I'm not studying, working or at meetings. Back to Top What has been your biggest accomplishment to date? My biggest accomplishment to date would definitely be earning the title of Miss W. I feel like this is an accomplishment because I have been given the opportunity to represent my school and give back to it because it has given so much to me. Back to Top What is the best compliment you have ever received? The best compliment I have received was delivered from my college philosophy teacher, Dr. Hilliard. He told me that he thought I was a very intelligent individual. That has always set in deep with me and has given me confidence in my abilities. Back to Top What is your secret wish? My secret wish really isn't that secret. My wish is something that will probably seem cliché' to most, but is really sensitive in nature to me. I wish that no one would ever have to go hungry or have no where to call home. It is alarming to think about all the people who are homeless or in poverty today. Back to Top What was your most embarrassing moment? My most embarrassing moment would have to be the time that I was walking to work and as I was going up the stairs outside of my office building, I tripped up the stairs. Yes, up the stairs. I quickly played it off, but to my disadvantage, an older gentleman saw me and did not hesitate to stop and laugh. The only thing I could do was laugh with him and be happy that I at least made one person smile that day. Back to Top What is your biggest guilty pleasure? My biggest guilty pleasure would have to be that I am a sugar freak. I love candy and my favorite kind is anything that is sour and fruity. I can't get enough of that stuff! Back to Top What is your favorite movie and why? My favorite movie would have to be "Love Actually." I pick this movie because it shows the many different faces of romantic love. It shows what people will go through for love, who will help them and how they deal with their outcome. Back to Top What do you like to do for fun... relaxation... recreation? My favorite thing to do for fun is to hang out with my friends. We can have fun do anything, anywhere. Most people think we are insane, but we have so much fun just acting silly and goofy. For relaxation I turn to music. My favorites to listen to are Ray Lamontagne and Damien Rice. As for recreation, hanging out with my friends should be considered recreational activity. Back to Top What would be your dream vacation or destination? My dream vacation would be to go to Italy. I have always dreamed about visiting the Sistine Chapel and basking in its wonder. It has always amazed me and thinking of it just makes me feel all warm and inspired. Back to Top What do you like best about the state of Mississippi? What I like best about the state of Mississippi is its ad campaign against littering. I am not a fan of littering and at times find myself picking up after others that have littered before me. Back to Top Where do you see yourself in ten years? I see myself at a University teaching. I hope to earn my PhD and become a professor of English. I also see myself married to my wonderful boyfriend and maybe have a dog. Back to Top Who am I? When I think about describing myself, a number of things come to mind. First I have to say that I am very committed to my school work. I hate the thought of missing class and will only do it under extreme circumstances. I remember my freshman year of college, I suffered from a severe migraine for a week, but still managed to make it to all of my classes and complete all of my assignments. I didn't manage to avoid the emergency room though. So with that being said, I would consider myself a very dedicated individual. I also have a very quirky side too. I think my friends bring that side out of me. We have so much fun doing nothing at all. An example of this could be one occasion when my friend, Faith, and I were riding through campus and every time we would meet a pedestrian we would serenade them with Backstreet Boy songs. We managed to spread many smiles across people's faces that night.
Last is my role as an aunt and I would have to say that this is my most sensitive role in life. My two nieces and my nephew are my heart. Their names are Grayce,3, Lily,1, and Nathan,1. Lily and Nathan are fraternal twins. They fill my life with happiness and joy and I can't explain how proud I am of them when I experience them accomplishing something new. Nothing sounds better than hearing Grayce recite her ABC's or hearing Lily and Nathan tackling new words. They have brought my life so much happiness and they will never know how grateful I am for that, nor could they ever possibly grasp the amount of love I have for them.

It is needless to say that my family is very grateful for the March of Dimes and their help. Without them our journey would have been much more difficult. By helping them raise awareness for their cause, it gives me a chance to give back to them since they have given so much to my family. I also feel that premature birth has become a prevalent problem in our country and measures need to be taken to figure out what causes premature birth and how it can be more effectively prevented. Awareness needs to be made to our country on this issue, especially to the next generation of parents. Educating them on what is known about premature birth could help immensely in this struggle.
