What makes you special and unique?
I would like to think that my positive attitude makes me a unique person. Usually I see the glass half full rather than half empty. I think I can live a fuller life when viewing life with a positive attitude.

What is the best advice you have ever received?
The best advice I have ever received came from my Memaw, Loraine Simpson. She said we cannot control our circumstances in life, but we can control our attitude. A positive attitude can overcome many obstacles. Also "mind your Mother" continues to be good advice.

Name one thing you cannot live without.
I cannot imagine life without my family and friends. I believe my family and friends have been placed in my life for a reason, not by accident. I guess that is why I love the song, "For Good" from Wicked so much. My friends and family are molding me into the person that I am becoming.

What's the most valuable lesson you've ever learned?
The most valuable lesson I have learned is to be thankful for all my blessings.

Who is your most valued role model and why?
My Memaw is my most valued role model. She has Parkinson's Disease, which makes even the simplest tasks difficult. She preservers daily with faith and always has a positive attitude.

What was your most unexpected moment?
My most unexpected moment was when I won the Mississippi State Talent Fair competition. There were so many extremely talented people in the competition that I really never expected to win. I was totally shocked, and I will never forget that moment.

What is your workout routine?
A friend of mine started me on a good workout routine that I have continued- weights and cardio for one hour each day prior to class, and I try to run in the evening.

What has been your biggest accomplishment to date?
I feel like my biggest accomplishment to date is to have adjusted to college life without any major problems. I loved my high school years at Jackson Prep, and hoped that I would like Ole Miss as much. I am continuing to enjoy the same things I loved in high school at Ole Miss by participating in Concert Singers, the Opera, Diamond Girl, Footloose the musical, and Chi Omega sorority.

What was your most embarrassing moment?
My most embarrassing moment happened to me on the first day of Junior High. I was at the lunch table, and I needed to get up. So when I pushed my hands on the table, the whole table crashed down. Everyone's food landed on the floor! My face turned bright red, and I wanted to run and hide!

What is your biggest guilty pleasure?
Eating more chocolate than I need is my guilty pleasure!

What is your favorite movie and why?
My favorite movie of all time is Miss Congeniality, because it shows the humorous as well as the realistic side of the pageant world. This movie never gets old to me!

What do you like best about the state of Mississippi?
I like the people in Mississippi. We are the hospitality state, and we have such kind and caring people living here. We have many educated, prosperous, and giving people here. I think everyone should visit Mississippi and see for themselves what a great state this is!

Where do you see yourself in ten years?
I see myself with a job in the performing arts along with a loving husband and kids. My dream has always been to perform on Broadway and to raise a family, and I hope to make both of my dreams come true.

Who am I?
I have lived in the same house in Brandon, Mississippi all of my life. This year I started a new chapter of my life when I entered my freshman year at Ole Miss. My hopes of meeting new friends, joining different organizations, and studying music and theater are currently being achieved at Ole Miss. I am loving every single day I spend at Ole Miss, and I look forward to spending the next three years there.

I also come from a very loving family. I am an only child, and my parents and I are very close. They are always there to support me at anything I do. It has been such a blessing to me to have such a wonderful and close family.

My life has been centered around the performing arts. Music, in particular, is such a huge part of my life. I have been studying singing, acting, and dancing for several years, and my passion for the arts is still growing. The best feeling in the world for me is to step out on a stage and perform. I hope that one day I can accomplish my dreams of being a professional performer.

Tell us about your platform.
I have been involved with community service for several years, and I have always loved giving back to my community. It is so important today for people to realize that volunteering not only benefits the receiver, but the giver as well. I know that volunteering has impacted my life in such a positive and uplifting way, and I feel that people should know that volunteering will impact their lives in a similar way. For an example, when I was entertaining for the Gulf Coast Symphony Guild, a woman came up to me and said that she had not smiled in months since her husband had died, and that I had made her smile that day. Just to hear those words made me realize what a positive affect volunteering can have on people. I think that encouraging young people to volunteer will help them take the focus off of themselves and place it towards others.

I am in the process of creating a competition for high school seniors that will reward them for their volunteer efforts. It is called the Rankin County Volunteer of the Year award, and it will reward those who have helped out in their community. Each school in Rankin County that wishes to participate will choose a senior from their school that has demonstrated the most outstanding community involvement. Out of all the schools, the top five seniors will be picked and a reception will be held in their honor. One winner will be chosen to represent Rankin County's Volunteer of the Year, and each of the finalist and the winner will receive cash prizes.

I feel that this program will encourage students to become more involved in their communities and help enrich the lives of others and themselves.
