What makes you special and unique?
I absolutely love people. My friends think I know everyone and have never met a stranger. I like meeting new people, talking to people, helping people and basically just being around others. I like to sit and listen to stories from my elders and I am in awe of babies and children. I do not know if this makes me special or unique but enjoying others company definitely makes my life happier and more fulfilling.

What is the best advice you have ever received?
"Anything worth having is worth working hard for." These are words I try to live by. So when I am down and do not want to study or work toward any goal I set I just think of this and know that if it something that I truly desire and want to obtain, it will mostly likely take hard work and dedication on my part.

Name one thing you cannot live without.
My Ugg boots! My feet are always cold, so I wear them everywhere! They are my traveling in the car shoes as well as my wear around the house and to class shoes. I basically wear them any time I possibly can because they are so comfortable.

What's the most valuable lesson you've ever learned?
To not worry about things that you cannot control. This knowledge came to me with age. When I was in high school and even undergrad I struggled with what others though, what I looked like, if I were going to get into grad school etc. I was a compulsive worrier. So when I really started to become comfortable with who I was and figured out that I can only do my best and the rest would be taken care of by the big man up stairs; I became a lot happier and less worrisome.

Who is your most valued role model and why?
My mother, Cindi Tutor is my most valued role model. She is a single mom who works hard each and every day to set a good example for my brother and myself. She is also selfless, wise, empathetic, and would do anything for others. These are all great personal qualities that make her an ideal leader, mother, and role model.

What was your most unexpected moment?
Having my name called out in the Top 5 in last years pageant was so unexpected. I had prepared so hard for it but had refused to let myself get my hopes up, so when it happened I am sure I looked like I was in a state of shock, because for a moment I was!

What is your workout routine?
I am very ashamed to say that I am not very compliant when it comes to working out, but when I do; I try to do lots of cardio and light weights. Oh and I love Windsor Pilates. I am also a big fan of drinking a lot of water to aid in overall health and it is great for your skin.

What has been your biggest accomplishment to date?
Becoming a member of the class of 2010 in University of MS Pharmacy School. I have known since high school that it was my calling to serve and help others as a Pharmacist. I have also been a Pharmacy Technician for three years now which has reinforced my career choice. So getting that acceptance letter last summer was life changing (and a relief).

What is the best compliment you have ever recieved?
Working with the elderly can be a great confidence booster if you are young. Even if I am having a horrible day at work and look horrible, I will probably be told that I "look nice" or that I "remind them of their granddaughter" and an elderly gentleman told me the other day that I was " the most beautiful women that he had ever seen working at Wal-Mart." That just made my day.

What is your secret wish?
To serve as the grand marshal for a NASCAR Race so I can be the one to say "Gentlemen, START YOUR ENGINES!"

What was your most embarrassing moment?
Most people have trouble walking down stairs. I have trouble walking up stairs. Recently I fell running up the stairs in my house. I tripped and fell up, then slid back down a few steps, spilling my drink all over my face and causing a very loud thud, all while having an audience watching from my living room. Needless to say I was embarrassed and bruised.

What is your biggest guilty pleasure?
Let's see, where do I start? I love Dr. Pepper, Taco Bell kids meals, The Sopranos, sleeping late, 80's music, shopping on eBay, over priced hotdogs wrapped in tinfoil from Swayze Field at Ole Miss, and Converse All-star tennis shoes in all colors just to name a few.

What is your favorite movie and why?
It is a tie between Home Alone and Beaches. Home Alone makes me think of Christmas and it is such a fun movie, but on the other hand Beaches is the all time greatest chick flick. I can watch both of these over and over and never get tired of them.

What do you like to do for fun... relaxation... recreation?
Watching Ole Miss Baseball, bubble baths and trying new things. I have recently taken up bowling. My new goal is to be able to bowl a score better than 100. (Hey I never said I was good!)

What would be your dream vacation or destination?
I have only been outside the country once, and would love to go back. I really enjoy the beach (even though I hate sand). So my dream destination would have to be somewhere hot and relaxing on the beach. Maybe I could try snorkeling or scuba diving.

What do you like best about the state of Mississippi?
That we are titled the Hospitality State. This is so appropriate in my opinion. Mississippians are genuine, giving and truly care about one another. Hurricane Katrina is a great example of just how self sufficient we can be in a time of need. So many Mississippians don't have very much at all but would give you the shirt of their back if you needed it.

Where do you see yourself in ten years?
In ten years I will be 33 and I have a list of things to do before I am 30. Some examples are(in no particular order): finish college, travel abroad, learn another language(I speak a little Spanish), get married, sky dive, see the Pacific Ocean, try caviar, be brave enough to cut my hair short, etc.

Who am I?
I consider myself an average girl. On an average day you can find me in blue jeans, a t-shirt, converse tennis shoes, with my hair in a ponytail. This is how I am most comfortable. I am also very family oriented. My home is in Pontotoc, which is in the Northeastern part of the state. I like to say that I live on the compound because our house is totally surrounded by family. So if you want some famous cheese and broccoli soup or if you want the local gossip fresh off the press (aka the beauty shop) then you can find me across the street at Mamaw Dorothy’s house. If the sun is shining you can find the younger cousins in the neighborhood riding four wheelers, fishing or just running around getting into trouble.

When I am not at home I live in Oxford Mississippi, home of the Rebels (Hotty Toddy!) where I attend college. I attended Northeast Mississippi Community College two years previous to coming to Ole Miss, a college that is also dear to my heart (Go Tigers!). I hold a Bachelors Degree in Biology with a minor in Chemistry from the University of Mississippi and am now working on my Doctorate of Pharmacy.

Pageants are so often misunderstood, but they are first and foremost a way to pay for college while networking with some of the most driven, intelligent, talented young women in the country AND they are fun. If approached with a positive attitude the Miss America Organization’s system can be nothing but beneficial to you. I know it has been a positive experience for me for five years now. My home town of Pontotoc has had two Miss Mississippi winners in the past and I would love nothing more than to represent our state as its third to make myself, my town, and especially my Mamaw proud!

Tell us about your platform.
Organ and tissue donation and transplantation is a nationwide issue. Over the last three decades, medical advancements have made it possible to transplant human organs and tissues with much success. Transplantation can only occur if donated organs and tissues are available.

Here are some of the facts:
• More than 80,000 people desperately need some type of organ transplant.
• More than one-half of the people on the national transplant list are waiting for a kidney transplant.
• Every 14 minutes a new name is added to the national transplant waiting list.
• Due to the severe shortage of organs, each day 16 people lose their struggle for life as they wait for transplant.
• One organ and tissue donor can help more than 50 different people.
• There are approximately 62 organ procurement agencies in the nation.

After meeting with representatives from both Mississippi Organ Recovery Agency (MORA) and Mid-South Transplant Foundation, I attended a speaker’s education class on organ and tissue donation. I was also actually allowed to observe during an organ recovery on a 16-year-old gun shot victim.

Although 85% of adults say they support organ donation, few have actually signed a donor card. Even less have taken the initiative to talk to their families to make certain that their wishes are known. By working with Mississippi Organ Recovery Agency and Mid-South Transplant Foundation, I have the opportunity to make a difference in the lives of countless Mississippians who may be touched by this important issue.
