What makes you special and unique?
I believe my sincerity makes me special and unique. I always try to find the best in people and situations, but sometimes find myself too trusting.

What is the best advice you have ever received?
My mother always tell me, “Never give up.” If something does not work out the first time, regroup, analyze your mistakes, and try to look at the situation from a different perspective. And always try again.

Name one thing you cannot live without.
The one thing I don’t want to live without is my sweet little Yorkie, Sam. He is full of energy and always displays unconditional love.

What's the most valuable lesson you've ever learned?
When you try to be somebody you aren’t, you find disappointment. Not only are you being dishonest with others, you loose confidence in who you really are.

Who is your most valued role model and why?
My grandmother is my most valued role model. She is truly an example of a southern lady. She always tells me the truth – even if it hurts me.

What was your most unexpected moment?
My most unexpected moment came when I was ten years old. I wasn’t sure about Santa so I asked to meet a celebrity for my Christmas present. Shortly before Christmas I was given the opportunity to attend a George Strait concert (my favorite of all artists). Not only did I attend the concert I was taken backstage to meet him, have pictures made and talk with him for a brief moment. I even got a kiss on the cheek out of the deal – needless to say “Santa, I still believe!”

What is your workout routine?
I have a unique workout routine. Monday, Wednesday, and Friday I am enrolled in three aerobic classes. The first being water aerobics, second is dance aerobics and the third is a walking for fitness class. On Tuesdays and Thursdays I workout at the gym focusing on my lower legs and arms.

What has been your biggest accomplishment to date?
Finding confidence and security in my career choices. This will be one of the most important decisions of my life and I am completely at ease with my choice of teaching small children. I feel this will be a rewarding and fulfilling career and it will certainly help prepare me for someday becoming a parent.

What is the best compliment you have ever recieved?
A wonderful friend told me that I had true compassion and honesty in my eyes. When I smile he says it shows more in my eyes than on my face.

What is your secret wish?
My secret wish is to perform a duet on stage with my favorite country singer, George Strait.

What was your most embarrassing moment?
My most embarrassing moment came during a track meet when I was in the 7th grade. I was running the two-mile race and stepped out of my shoe on the first lap. But, I didn’t quit, ran the other seven laps with one shoe on and one shoe off. Even came in second.

What is your biggest guilty pleasure?
An afternoon on the couch watching a lifetime move, eating chocolate, and drinking a diet coke - when I should be studying.

What is your favorite movie and why?
My favorite movie would be Sabrina. Audrey Hepburn was superb. She followed her heart, but still listened to her head and in the end found true happiness.

What do you like to do for fun... relaxation... recreation?
For fun I love shopping, for relaxation I enjoy laying by the pool, and for recreation nothing beats snow skiing.

What would be your dream vacation or destination?
My idea of a dream vacation is lying on the beach of an island in the Bahamas. Making it really perfect is to get to that island by way of the Miss America cruise.

What do you like best about the state of Mississippi?
The genuine hospitality of our people. The one most consistent comment you hear from visitors is how welcoming and kind hearted the people of Mississippi seem. Mississippian's proved their commitment to one another after the tragedies suffered during the hurricane. I am proud to be a Mississippian.

Where do you see yourself in ten years?
In ten years I see myself as a principal or assistant principal in a elementary school. I should have finished my graduate work by this time and would like to think I was in the process of a PhD. Of course it goes without saying, I hope to be in a relationship with a good Christian man.

Who am I?
My name is Stephanie Batchelor and I am twenty-one years old. I have been blessed with two wonderful parents, who support and stand behind me one hundred percent. I am an only child, WOO HOO!! I was raised in Canton, MS where I attended Canton Academy. My original goal in life was to be a tax attorney; low and behold here I am a senior in college and an elementary education major. God works in mysterious ways. I attend Delta State University, "the Fighting Okra", and I have recently discovered Cleveland as my second home.

I have a unique personality. I enjoy walking, working out, eating, meeting new people, playing with children, and hanging out with my friends and family. Everyday is a brand new day; I always look for the positive in most situations, and look forward to seeing the outcome. I can not wait to be a teacher and anxiously await those wonderful days.

Tell us about your platform.
My platform focuses on literacy. I have realized that by spending many hours in the school system, children do not comprehend materials the way they should. By having the availability to help these children, I have seen the rewards a student has by understanding what he or she has read.

Do you want a mayor that can not lead your city, a governor that cannot lead your state, and a President that can not lead our nation because they can not read and write properly? Well, it is my ambition and goal to educate these children. It is vital that these children understand the concepts of literacy. By being able to read and write correctly, these students can further themselves academically. We need to explain to children that without being able to read and write the simplest task can not be accomplished. They can not read signs, write letters, read books, and the list continues. It is our job as teachers, to teach these children the value of literacy.

A library without books is like a brain without knowledge! Let’s fill the student's head full of knowledge, because we are teaching the next generation.
