What makes you special and unique?
One thing that is special and unique about me is that I am an only child. Although I may be a tiny bit spoiled, I think this makes me very unique. I matured much faster and have a very close bond and relationship with my parents.

What is the best advice you have ever received?
The best advice I have ever received is to always follow your dreams no matter what and to never give up on them no matter the circumstance. I try to live my life on a daily basis following these words of wisdom. Because of this advice, I have learned if you work hard enough and want it bad enough, nothing is out of your reach.

Name one thing you cannot live without.
I cannot live without my precious dog, Bruiser, and Hastee Tastee's sweet tea!

What's the most valuable lesson you've ever learned?
The most valuable lesson I have learned in life is to never give up. I believe the Miss Mississippi Corporation has actually helped me learn this lesson. It took me four times before I finally won a preliminary to go to Miss Mississippi. Although, at times I was discouraged, I had the determination within me. Today, I am grateful that I never gave up on this dream because I have learned so much from this experience.

Who is your most valued role model and why?
My grandfather is my most valued role model. He is the hardest working person I know. I admire and respect him so much for that. I have received a great deal of good and useful advice from him over the years. I truly have never met anyone as wise. At my last preliminary, one of my interview questions was, "What would you rather possess, wisdom or knowledge?" After thinking for a moment I decided I would much rather have wisdom. Although my grandfather may not have a great deal of school education, he is just so wise. I would not trade the lessons I have learned from him for anything in this world!

What was your most unexpected moment?
My most unexpected moment happened several years ago when I won my first Miss Mississippi preliminary. As a little girl, I dreamed of one day walking across the Miss Mississippi stage. To me, there was no greater role model to young women and girls across the country as Miss Mississippi and Miss America. Standing there the night I won with that crown on my head was a very unexpected moment for me just because a dream I had held within me for so long was finally going to come true!

What is your workout routine?
My workout routine consists of one hour of cardio six days a week as well as lifting weights every other day.

What has been your biggest accomplishment to date?
My biggest accomplishment would have to be graduating from radiology school. When I was accepted into this program I was the youngest in my class. It has been very exciting, but stressful as well, and is definitely a huge accomplishment for me.

What is the best compliment you have ever received?
When I was a senior in high school the state championship ballgame for the All-Star baseball teams was held in my hometown. I was asked to sing "God Bless America" before the game. As I started to sing, I realized that every time I sang into the mike my music would cut off. Finally I just put the mike down and did the best job I could do. Haley Barbour, now our governor, was also at this ballgame to throw the first pitch. After the game started, he came to tell me how impressed he was with the way I handled the situation and how composed I stayed throughout the ordeal. He said he was proud to have such a classy young woman, who was just as beautiful on the inside as the out, be representing our hometown at the state ballgame. This had to be by far one of the best compliments I have ever received.

What is your secret wish?
My secret wish is to someday become a member of the Grand Ole Opry and sing where so many country music legends have performed.

What was your most embarrassing moment?
My most embarrassing moment happened not to long ago. As I was trying to step over a doggie gate that my friend had between the living room and kitchen, I lost my balance and fell on the brick floor. As I fell, my left leg landed underneath all my body weight. Several hours later I realized that I needed to go to the hospital to have my leg and foot x-rayed. I must say that this is when x-ray school really came in handy! Not only had I broken my lower leg, but my ankle as well. Luckily no one saw me do this! This is living proof that Miss Mississippi contestants are not always as graceful as they seem (or maybe it's just me!)

What is your biggest guilty pleasure?
My biggest guilty pleasure is milk chocolate covered mint Oreo cookies. These are fairly new and I am completely addicted. I literally cannot get enough. It's like having mint girl scout cookies all year long!

What is your favorite movie and why?
My favorite movie is Walk the Line. Johnny Cash, as well as June Carter Cash, have always been favorites of mine, so I was extremely excited when I found out a movie was being filmed about their lives. Reece Witherspoon is my favorite actress and I do not think they could have found anyone better for her part.

What do you like to do for fun... relaxation... recreation?
For fun I love to be with my friends and family as well as my dog Bruiser. I may be a tiny bit biased, but I truly believe I have the greatest friends and family in the world (as well as the cutest dog!) For relaxation I love to get my nails done or take long bubble baths.

What would be your dream vacation or destination?
I love the beach as well as Nashville, but my dream vacation would have to be to visit Paris, France. I have always wanted to go there since I was a little girl. I'm sure what I've seen of the city on television doesn't do it a bit of justice.

What do you like best about the state of Mississippi?
I love the fact that our state is so friendly. Just riding down the road you have people who you don't even know waving to you and smiling at you as well. This makes me proud to be from Mississippi, aka "The Hospitality State."

Where do you see yourself in ten years?
In ten years I will be specialized in nuclear medicine and working for St. Jude Children's Research Hospital in Memphis, TN.

Who am I?
I am just finishing x-ray school and am very excited about working soon! I hope to go back next year to specialize in nuclear medicine technology and to someday work for St. Jude where my heart is. This has been a dream of mine for so long, so I'm looking forward to achieving this dream in the near future. My favorite foods are pasta (anything Italian), ice cream, and my very favorite, chocolate (too bad I don't really get to eat any of this for a while!) I am an only child and very close to my family. I have the greatest parents and grandparents I could ever ask for! I love my dog, Bruiser, and I miss him terribly when I'm away from home. This is my third year to compete for the title of Miss Mississippi and I have loved every second of it. I believe this pageant has given me more self esteem than I ever had, as well as interview skills I will use for the rest of my life. I have also met so many amazing people through this pageant system.

Tell us about your platform.
When I was only five months old, my mother was diagnosed with leukemia. She fought so hard and I am thrilled to say that she has now been in remission from cancer for over twenty years. Because of this, my passion has always been to fight for a cure for cancer. As I got older and decided to go into radiology, I realized how much I love to work with children. I started raising money for St. Jude, and the first time I stepped foot into that hospital, those children captured my heart. I truly believe that we will one day find a cure for cancer but until then, I will do what I can to stop this deadly disease. I love working with the American Cancer Society and educating as many people as possible about the facts concerning cancer as well as what they can to help. One thing I always try to tell people is that according to the America Cancer Society, one out of every three people in the United States will at some point in their lives have some form of cancer. That's a scary statistic. I think when people hear this they are more ready to help out. That's exactly what I plan to do in my year of service: to get more people educated and ready to help. The crown can definitely be used as a microphone and that's something I plan to use it for!
