What makes you special and unique?
I am special because I am versatile. I think it is important to do your best at all you do, but not get caught up in only one thing. One of my best qualities is being well balanced.

What is the best advice you have ever received?
My favorite advice comes from Romans 8:28. It says that all things work together for good for those that love the Lord. I have learned that life can be very stressful and difficult if you don't let God handle it!

Name one thing you cannot live without.
Brown Bear! He is a stuffed bear that I've been sleeping with since I was a baby. He goes wherever I go!

What's the most valuable lesson you've ever learned?
Thankfully, I have already learned not to judge people. Whether a first impression is positive or negative, it is best to keep an open mind when meeting new people.

Who is your most valued role model and why?
Katie Couric is one of my role models because not only is she extremely successful, but she enjoys her career and makes it entertaining!

What was your most unexpected moment?
Last year I asked my parents for a specific car I saw on eBay. My dad told me he forgot to bid on it, so I was shocked to see it sitting in my driveway a few weeks later!

What is your workout routine?
I try to do at least half an hour or more of cardio everyday. Twice a week I work out with a trainer for strength work. I also enjoy tennis, dancing, and tumbling.

What has been your biggest accomplishment to date?
During tenth grade, my high school cheer squad won state and nationals. That had never been done before at my school, and I'm so excited to have helped set the bar for future squads.

What is the best compliment you have ever recieved?
A younger girl in my community told me that she looked up to me and that I was her role-model. That means so much to me because I constantly strive to be a positive influence.

What is your secret wish?
I would love to own a huge farm or petting zoo with assorted animals from zebras to piglets!

What was your most embarrassing moment?
Once a week we have open dorm night at my school. I never seem to know when this night is. One of these nights I was headed to the shower in a small towel when I made eye contact with a guy I know in the hallway! We both just stood there, and finally I managed to utter, "uh oh," and run into the bathroom!

What is your biggest guilty pleasure?
I can rarely say no to Dairy Queen ice cream cakes!

Who am I?
In my hometown, Brookhaven, we were all like a family. Everyone there has supported my in all that I have ever done! I am so grateful for that and wouldn't trade it for anything. When I came to Mississippi College, I discovered the same thing. I have met so many incredible people that have already become like family to me. I have been so blessed to be surrounded by people who are so uplifting.

I have a lot of different sides to my personality. On one hand, I can be very serious and determined. I make goals and then work hard to meet them. I wouldn't trade the feeling of being successful for anything! On the other hand, I love to have fun! I really enjoy meeting new people everywhere I go. When I am with friends, especially my girls, we tend to get really silly. We play jokes on each other and goof off. I love to go to the movies and eat out at good restaurants.

The main thing that I have enjoyed about my whole Miss Mississippi experience, is that it has truly made me become the best that I can be. I have learned so much throughout this process. I will be able to use these experiences to my benefit in all my future endeavors. I know that because of this program, I am more prepared for all things that life my bring me.

Tell us about your platform.
My platform is childhood obesity. It's important to me, as a Mississippian, to help turn our statistics around. We have one of the highest obesity rates in the country. It starts out with our children. I want them to be healthy like I have been blessed to be. I was never around junk food, and my parents encouraged me to play outside. That way I developed good habits and was able to have energy for academics, athletics, and anything I wanted to be involved in. I just want other children to be able to experience that.

No child should have to deal with physical setbacks such as high cholesterol, high blood pressure, and fatigue. More importantly than physical issues are emotional consequences. It is such a necessity for kids to feel good about themselves. Their childhood shapes their personality for adulthood. If kids feel good about how they look, they will be more open, outward, and ready to succeed.

I think the solution to Childhood Obesity lies within our parents, schools, and government. Parents have to set examples and provide healthy food and exercise. Government is taking steps in the right direction with bills on trans fat and mandating healthy menus in schools. Schools have got to teach physical education and nutritional education! I hope to continue doing my part in helping kids of Mississippi become healthy, happy individuals!
