My hobbies and interests include photography, songwriting, dancing, playing tennis, singing, modeling, exercising, riding horses, playing the guitar and piano. Back to Top What makes you special and unique? My life is special and unique because my brother, Justin and I both are adopted. I feel blessed because God helped to place the both of us in a loving Christian home with parents who are truly wonderful. Back to Top What is the best advice you have ever received? I was once told "Stop telling God how big your storms are...and start telling your storms how big God is." I feel that this advice is wonderful because people often forget that in the middle of a difficult circumstance, God's presence is larger than the problem itself. Back to Top Name one thing you cannot live without. I absolutely could not live without by Bible. I find comfort, encouragement, and guidance is every page. It provides me with a one-stop resource for any obstacle I am facing, or may face in the future. Back to Top What's the most valuable lesson you've ever learned? I have learned that one must live each day as if it were their last, living life to its fullest makes every moment a wonderful memory. Back to Top Who is your most valued role model and why? My mother is the most valued role model that I know. She has taught me so many life lessons, and has been a glowing example of those lessons. I treasure her knowledge, love and input in my life. Back to Top What was your most unexpected moment? My most unexpected moment (and brush with greatness) was running into country music star, Keith Urban at my favorite restaurant in Nashville and then ending up having lunch with him! Back to Top What is your workout routine? I like to have variety in my workout routine. I believe that a successful workout program must involve different exercises to work different parts of the body. I like to run three to four miles a day, and I alternate strength training with kickboxing, Pilates and yoga. Back to Top What has been your biggest accomplishment to date? I am currently the Chairperson for the Cardio-Kids Exercise Program at South Central Regional Medical Center. This accomplishment is special and dear to my heart. I am thankful to be able to have such an active role in a program that is helping to develop healthy lifestyles for children, while combating childhood obesity. Back to Top What is the best compliment you have ever recieved? I was once told that I could sell ice to Eskimos! Back to Top What is your secret wish? I would love to be on the hit show "Dancing with the Stars". I may have two left feet, but when did that stop anyone? Back to Top What was your most embarrassing moment? I am ashamed to admit it but I have had many embarrassing moments in my lifetime. However, the most recent one was falling off the Stair-Master at the gym in front of a dozen laughing people. Back to Top What is your biggest guilty pleasure? My guilty pleasure includes McDonald's French fries dipped into a big cup of Ranch dressing. Back to Top What is your favorite movie and why? My favorite movie is Nicholas Sparks' "A Walk to Remember". This movie demonstrates the fragileness of life and reminds us to live each day as if it were our last. Back to Top What do you like to do for fun... relaxation... recreation? I like to get in my car, drive without any destination, put on my favorite CD and roll down the windows. This is not only relaxing, but also extremely therapeutic after a long day or a long week. Back to Top What would be your dream vacation or destination? I would love to hop on plane and fly to Italy! I love Italy for it's beauty, architecture and especially it's good ol' Italian cuisine. Back to Top What do you like best about the state of Mississippi? Mississippi is the "Hospitality State"!!! It is so simple to see why; our friends and neighbors help to make Mississippi a friendly and hospitable place, by spreading southern charm throughout our state. Back to Top Where do you see yourself in ten years? I would like to see myself in ten years working as a recording artist for a major label. Back to Top Who am I? There are several facets to my life. I am a very compassionate person who loves people, and loves to be around people. I am especially compassionate towards those whose lives have been uprooted by any number of circumstances. Compassion is a word that many people do not use with the respect that it deserves. I am at my core a "country girl". I love the outdoors, country music, animals and all things that go with the simpler lifestyle. On the other hand, I love to dress up, go shopping and occasionally be a "daddy's girl". I treasure the home I have grown up in as well as the town and the people that have watched grow into a young woman. All of these things have molded me into the person I am today and for that I am grateful.
My greatest passion is singing. I honestly cannot remember a time when I was not singing something...somewhere...or to somebody! Singing gives me a sense of satisfaction and is very therapeutic. When I am sad, worried or just need a little lift...all I have to do is starting singing! I promise you the clouds separate and suddenly all is well in my little corner of the world. I feel rewarded when I hear that my singing has helped to make someone else's day a little brighter, too.
Tell us about your platform. I am passionate about helping to combat childhood obesity, because many of the people in my life and others I have known have fallen victim to this disease. It is especially heartbreaking to know that so many children have to fight this disease at such a vulnerable time in their lives. If I could tell children one thing, it would be, "Eat healthy for life....Exercise healthy for life." A child's quality of life is significantly deterred as a result of obesity. Mobility and simple movement are restricted severely, children need to move, run, walk, jump and play. We are too sedentary in our lifestyles.
I hope that through my program STAR (Start Taking an Active Role), I can promote the essentials of healthy living to children. I am very excited about implementing this program in counties around my home and hope to see it become a statewide program in our school systems. We only have one life and one body to live that life with. I am committed to seeing a generation of children be healthy and make healthy eating choices.
