What makes you special and unique?
Philiappians 4:13 reads, “For I can do all things through Christ, who strengthens me.” What makes me special and unique is that once I set my mind to something, I do not give up until I attain it. I feel that nothing is impossible for those who set their hope in Jesus Christ.

What is the best advice you have ever received?
The best advice I have ever received is that you must truly love yourself before you ever learn how to adequately love others. I always strive to love, respect, and accept myself so that I can do the same for others.

Name one thing you cannot live without.
Coffee. Without it, it’s not so pretty.

What's the most valuable lesson you've ever learned?
The most valuable lesson I have learned is that failure is a part of life. However, failing at a task does not make that person a failure.

Who is your most valued role model and why?
My most valued role model is my friend, sorority sister, and advisor Kitty Herndon. She is the definition of a steel magnolia: full of grace and poise and the epitome of hospitality. Kitty is an inspiration to everyone she meets and I consider myself blessed to call her friend.

What was your most unexpected moment?
My most unexpected moment was when my mom told me that she was pregnant with my little sister Emmalee. I had been an only child for 6 years and was quite fond of that lifestyle. You can only imagine my surprise when my parents had Emmalee, Chuckie, and Billy within a span of 3 years. However, I am so happy to be the oldest of our group of 4. Everyday I my sister and my brothers give me more reasons to be proud.

What is your workout routine?
My workout routine consists of at least an hour of cardio 6 days a week combined with strength training, Pilates, and yoga.

What has been your biggest accomplishment to date?
My most treasured accomplishment was being able to serve my sorority, Alpha Omicron Pi, as Chapter President. I was rewarded in so many ways from my experience of working with the girls of our chapter. I am so proud of their accomplishments and always hold our ideals in my heart.

What is the best compliment you have ever received?
After singing at church when I was 12 years old, a lady from my church approached me and thanked me for singing. Then she said that she was so blessed by my performance and said that she could see Jesus in my eyes. I have always cherished those words.

What is your secret wish?
If I told, it wouldn’t be a secret now would it?

What was your most embarrassing moment?
One of the very few times it has ever iced over in Mississippi, I was walking outside my sorority house and as soon as I got to the top step I slipped on the ice and fell, no grace involved. Luckily, everyone was walking to their 8 am class and was able to watch.

What is your biggest guilty pleasure?
After I won my local pageant, I immediately went to Krystal and ordered a sackful. Since then, I have rewarded myself with those terrible for me little burgers and enjoyed each one of them.

What is your favorite movie and why?
My favorite movie is Patch Adams because his character inspired to me to go into the medical field. Patch Adams' charismatic attitude towards life and his ability to think outside the box of the medical system is inspiring. Like Patch I am guilty of wanting everyone to live life with "excessive happiness."

What do you like to do for fun... relaxation... recreation?
My favorite thing to do is hang out with my brothers and sister. When we are together all we do is laugh and cut up. I enjoy acting like a kid and getting into trouble with them.

What would be your dream vacation or destination?
My dream vacation would be to travel all of Europe. No specific place, just to be there.

What do you like best about the state of Mississippi?
When you enter the state of Mississippi, there are signs that say "it's like coming home." This is my favorite thing about our state. The hospitality in our state is so wonderful. There is no such thing as a stranger in Mississippi and I am so proud to be a part of such a place.

Where do you see yourself in ten years?
There are so many things I want to do, that it is hard to imagine where I will be in 10 years. For this reason I cannot list where I would like to see myself, but how I would like to see myself. I hope to be happy and content with my life up until that point. I hope to have no regrets and be thankful for what I have been blessed with. I hope to have children of my own and see my brothers and sister get married and begin their own lives. I see myself being proud of what I have accomplished and ready to take on the next obstacle in my life.

Who am I?
Ever since I was a little girl, I wanted to be a country music star. From the time I could talk, I could sing. I watched the Country Music Awards and envisioned myself on that stage or pictured the day I would walk across the floor of the Grand Ole Opry and be inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame. My heroes were Patsy Cline and George Jones. All of my childhood memories are associated with a country song. I have had many opportunities to share my passion for music with others, including singing at Farm AID with Willie Nelson in 1997 and 2005.

This year I will begin to seriously pursue a music career now after I have graduated from the University of Mississippi. This has been my dream for so long and I finally plan to give it all of my attention. If I succeed, I will be lucky and grateful. If I find that the music business is not the place for me, I will know that I gave it everything I had and I will be happy to pursue my other goals such as becoming a doctor. I am in love with this chapter of my life in which I have so many doors open to me.

Tell us about your platform.
There is an increasing need for victims' advocacy in the world today. Victims of violent crimes carry a stigma and a silence that I wish to break. My platform consists of increasing education about the prevalence of violent crimes, how to prevent a crime from occurring, and how to develop coping skills after a crime has occurred. I also wish to increase the number of volunteers who help with victims' services. These are major steps that must be taken to fight the war on crime.

I have been a volunteer for Family Crisis Services of Northwest Mississippi stationed in Oxford for 4 years. I have served as a rape crisis counselor and a mentor for an "at-risk" child. Family Crisis offers a variety of services to the community including victims’ advocacy, legal aid, forensic interviews, and counseling services. I have helped in various fundraisers including “Jeans for Justice” a program to raise awareness about violence against women and Party in the Park, which is a carnival for kids to promote child abuse prevention. In 2004, I was honored with an "Outstanding Volunteer" award by Family Crisis Services. I have also served as Board of Director for Angel Ranch, a temporary shelter for abused children in the Lafayette County district, and as an Executive Committee Member of the Ole Miss Domestic Violence Project.

Competing in the Miss Mississippi Program has given me several opportunities to share my platform and its values with others. I have had the privilege to speak with various organizations about violence prevention and awareness. I have enjoyed speaking to groups such as the Oxford Exchange Club, Oxford Rotary Club, the Paladium Club of Jackson and one the Christ United Methodist Women’s Circles. I was also honored with the privilege of representing and speaking for Angel Ranch at the annual Oxford Junior Auxiliary League Candlelight Vigil to Prevent Child Abuse
