My ability to work well with children makes me special and unique. Years of volunteering for children in hospitals has shown me that I have the potential it takes to be a nurse for children. Back to Top What is the best advice you have ever received? The best advice I have ever received is that you never get the second chance to make a first impression. Also, your character is how you act when nobody is watching. Back to Top Name one thing you cannot live without. TCBY....The Country's Best Yogurt!.....specifically, the 'white chocolate mousse with mini gummi bears'! Yes, this was introduced to me by a six-year-old....I love it! Back to Top What's the most valuable lesson you've ever learned? I have learned that just because you want something to happen to or for you, it does not mean it will. Anything in life worth having takes prayer, preparation, and a lot of hard work to attain. Back to Top Who is your most valued role model and why? For me, this question was the easiest. My mom is my most valued role model. My mom has such a caring nature about her for our family, friends and community. She is the go-to person for advice, care, and organizing for so many people. Her constant love and support have shown me how to be the best I can be. She is my biggest fan and more importantly, she has been my best friend. Back to Top What was your most unexpected moment? My most unexpected moment is happening to me now by competing in the Miss Mississippi pageant. I have grown up watching women from across the state, showcasing their grace and poise and talent. Now, I am one of these women competing in a program that allows me to be a role model for many girls. I represent every girl who has a dream in her heart, and strives to do and be her very best. Back to Top What is your workout routine? I have a standard workout routine of alternating cardio with weight training. I have been very persistent, and I have been blessed with great friends who join me at the gym. We support each other and keep it fun! Back to Top What has been your biggest accomplishment to date? My grandmother is a gourmet cook in her kitchen. My biggest accomplishment to date has been learning to cook like her. It is still a work-in-progress, but it has become a passion of mine to be creative in the kitchen! Back to Top What is the best compliment you have ever received? A friend who used to dance with me said she admired my dedication to my dance. She said that when she watched me dance, it was as if she were right up there next to me, taking every turn and leap with me. Back to Top What is your secret wish? My secret wish would be to be a model for a major clothing designer and walk the runway in their beautiful fashions... or maybe to be a news or sports broadcaster for television. I love to talk to and about everyone and everything! Back to Top What was your most embarrassing moment? Once I was stopped by a police officer for driving too slow. He said he was concerned, but my friends in the car with me told him 'she always drives like a Mammaw'! At that point, there was nothing I could say! I really did not realize you could be stopped for 'driving to slow'! Back to Top What is your biggest guilty pleasure? Watching the movie "Finding Nemo".....again, and again, and again! Back to Top What is your favorite movie and why? Besides "Finding Nemo" as I have already mentioned, I love "Cinderella" and "Sweet Home Alabama". What can I say? I am a hopeless romantic! I love a movie where the girl gets her prince! Back to Top What do you like to do for fun... relaxation... recreation? Dancing, going to the movies, and cooking. Rachel Ray and my grandmother are my heroes in the kitchen! Back to Top What would be your dream vacation or destination? New York City for the shopping, watching the Broadway plays, and seeing the Rockettes! Back to Top What do you like best about the state of Mississippi? I love that you can find Southern Hospitality throughout the state of Mississippi. We love being with our families and friends, and we come together during celebrations and during a crisis. We take in outsiders as a part of our circle and make sure they know that Mississippians are warm, kind, and have a generous spirit! Back to Top Where do you see yourself in ten years? In ten years, I will be working in a children's hospital in the Neonatal Unit as a Nurse Practitioner. I also see myself being married and starting a family of my own. Back to Top Who am I? Community Service has been a part of my life for as long as I can remember. As a child-life volunteer for the past four years at the Blair E. Batson Hospital for Children, I learned that I have the ability and passion to become a nurse for children. I have been a part of the Partnership for a Healthy Mississippi for four years, and a Junior Ambassador for the City of Madison Chamber of Commerce for two years. Ten years as a member of the Mississippi Metropolitan Ballet has given me the skills to be the ballerina of my dreams. In college, I have been in the Sally McDonnell Barksdale Honors College, a Chancellor's and Dean's List Scholar, and a member of Alpha Lambda Delta and Lambda Sigma Honor Societies. In addition to my studies, my extracurricular activities include being a member of the Ole Miss Dance Company and a Diamond Girl for the Ole Miss Baseball Team. The Campus Crusade for Christ, Delta Gamma Sorority, and the North Oxford Baptist Church complete my schedule while I am away from my family.
My agenda is full and busy like most college students, but I must confess that I do participate in one activity where I receive no college credit. It is my weekly 'girls night out' with my best friends! I call this my "mandatory-bonding-to-keep-me-sane" activity, but I really know that this is my deposit into the bank for 'friends for life'!

I want to make everyone aware of The Children's Miracle Network. From a Band-Aid drive at the elementary schools to the telethons across the state and nation, everyone can do a part to help in raising funds for hospitals for children. I want everyone to know about these very special hospitals that treat the whole child, not just a disease.
