We moved through the different phases of competition with some stunning talent performances, awe-inspiring evening gowns & sleek swimsuits for every contestant. We had lots of entertainment throughout the night. Our theme this year, "Two Kings and a Queen," featured the music of Michael Jackson (The King of Pop), Elvis Presley (The King of Rock & Roll) and, of course, the legendary rock band Queen.

When all was said and done we moved on to the business of crowning our new Miss Mississippi, but not before finding out who would fill her court!

Then came the moment we were all waiting for...

We definitely enjoyed every moment of the 2010 Miss Mississippi Pageant. Watch it again (or for the first time) for a limited time via our web stream or order your DVD today by Clickiing Here.

The Preliminaries are Complete

The final night of preliminary competition is behind us and we are ready to move on to the finals!

The competition was heated this year and we are proud to announce our preliminary winners from Friday evening. The Lifestyle & Fitness in Swimwear competition is always amazing here in Mississippi. Tonight (as with any night) was filled with beautiful, physically fit young women who have loads of confidence... you know it's got to be difficult to strut across a huge stage in front of hundreds and hundreds of people in a bathing suit! We are thrilled to announce our third tie of the year!

Miss Spirit of the South, Jill Duckworth, was presented a bouquet of roses for her scores in the Swimsuit competition and she shares the honor with Miss Rankin County / Southwest, Megan Miller. This was Megan's second bouquet this week. She shared the honor of highest score in the Talent competition with Miss Heritage, Ashley Brook Wieronski, on Wednesday night. (Miss Mid South, Danielle Smith also won both her Talent and Swimsuit portions of the competition.)

Speaking of the Talent phase of competition... Every one of our forty five contestants delivered amazing performances. We are sure that our panel of judges had an extremely enjoyable time - which probably made the May & Company auditors take some migraine medication after the show. This evening saw fifteen glorious performances with Miss Delta Blues, Caitlyn Smith, being honored with roses for her high score! Tomorrow night we go from forty-five contestants to ten (**unless we have a tie, in which case there may be eleven - it's happened before**) Join us at the Vicksburg Convention Center if you can (and bring a new teddy bear - see next paragraph for explanation) - and if you can't - Check out the webcast!

We are collecting the bears to donate to the Blair E. Batson Children's Hospital in Jackson. All bears collected at the pageant will be delivered by Miss Mississippi's Outstanding Teen 2010, Christina Bostick, and Miss Mississippi 2010. Teddy Bears & Tiaras... that's the name and we're counting on your help! Bring it to the stage during the appropriate performance (Here's a hint... It's an Elvis Presley song that contains the words Teddy & Bear) or better yet, get your little one to bring it up! See you there!!!!

The Competition Continues

Fenly Akers, Anna Tadlock, Danielle Smith

Two nights down, one to go before we narrow down the field to find out who our next Miss Mississippi will be. There were no ties tonight. For the second night in a row, Miss Mid South, Danielle Smith heard her name at the end of the night. Miss Smith earned the highest score in the talent competition with her amazing dance routine. Miss Mississippi State University, Fenly Akers, took home the honor of highest scores in the Lifestyle & Fitness in Swimwear competition.

There were lots of people at the pageant tonight and we're expecting an even bigger crowd tomorrow. If you are not able to make it to the Vicksburg Convention Center to catch the show live, watch it online here on the website. Click Here to watch!

On a related note... if you are coming to the pageant, bring a new teddy bear (or other stuffed animal). We look forward to seeing you there!

The Competition Begins

The first night of preliminary competition is complete. The show is fantastic and we're looking forward to the next three nights! The young women have all excelled in getting to this point and they've brought their "A Game" to Vicksburg this week.

Each preliminary night ends with the hosts announcing the name of the contestants with the highest scores in Talent and Swimwear. There's a tradition here in Mississippi: one of those nights the host is going to announce two names for one area of competition. This evening was one of the rarest of occasions. We had a tie in both Talent and Swimwear.

Miss Mid South, Danielle Smith and Miss Meridian, Mary Margaret Roark shared the honor of having the highest score in Swimwear. Miss Heritage, Ashley Brook Wieronski and Miss Rankin County / Southwest, Megan Miller were both honored with flowers for their vocal performances in the Talent competition.

We're looking forward to the next night of competition and we hope to see you there. If you are not able to make it to the Vicksburg Convention Center to catch the show live, watch it online here on the website. Click Here to watch!
